06Smith-superJumbo.jpg

On Saturday, September 14th there will be a community celebration to honor the words, life, brilliance, and influence of the great Toni Morrison. The event will feature local writers and community members reading the work of Ms. Morrison, followed by an open mic for others to share brief statements, quotes and favorite lines by the author. We invite all to come share, listen, remember, honor and celebrate. The event will be followed by dance party and, on Sunday, a screening of the documentary film TONI MORRISON: THE PIECES I AM at the Latchis Theater.

WORD CAFÉ

Writing is lonely work. Why not sometimes do it together?

Mondays @ 9-11:00 am

Location: Catherine Dianich Gallery, 139 Main Street. Down the alley, through the glass doors & past the gallery walls.

How it Works: We will briefly introduce ourselves and our projects/goals at the beginning of each session, and then work quietly side by side. All genres are welcome. Writers are welcome to take quiet tea/coffee breaks (away from the writing table) to chat.

This is a wonderful way to launch your creative week with focus, connect with other writers, and dedicate time to a new or ongoing writing project.
